Swimming with the sting rays?

We'll be taking a Caribbean cruise. Should we swim with the sting rays on our day in port or is there a better activity?

I did it on a cruise and really enjoyed it. I'd say it was the highlight of the cruise actually. Yes, it's a splurge. But worth it!

The stingrays are amazing. We did the jetski tour to stingray city and rum point on Grand Cayman Cruise Excursions and it was AWESOME!

If you are visiting the port of Barbados, try the "Atlantis Submarine Expedition", giving you the chance to see shipwrecks & beautiful tropical fish, in their natural habitat.

I just hope you are not claustrophobic ;)

I know this is something I would like to try if I had the opportunity.

There's really nothing like it. I highly recommend doing it if you get the chance http://www.caymanislands.ky/activities/attractions/stingraycity.aspx

If I had the option of 1 thing I had to do there on port, that's what I would actually pick!

I went on Carnival Pride last month to the Bahamas. While in Nassau, my family & I did the Balmoral Island excursion.  We all was given a crash course on how to feed a ray.

It was so fun...the guides have coolers full of fish, like herring, I believe. You will feel a vacuum cleaner like suction on your fingertips when the rays glide over to eat the fish you'll hold for them.  It's an awesome experience. I was a tad nervous at first, but when I saw my 6 year old grandbaby feeding one as she was instructed...I lost my nervousness.

Do it & have fun.

I can't wait to go again. Next, I am heading to Bermuda in 2014 or 2015. Anyone else??? I sail from East coast. Baltimore, MD. Can go to other nearby ports.

I know this is late, but better late than never. There is only one company to choose when it comes to this: Aquarius Sea Tours, they are amazing. Boat is not overcrowded, and if you do the morning tour you get to stop off to see the starfish too! That's what we did.  http://www.myvacationpages.com/details/acquarius-sea-tours-2

I highly recommend Moby Dick Tours... the groups are small, you snorkel, then play with the rays and feed them, too.  I've been on this trip with this tour provider 11 times... taken children, and even my elderly mother.  It's an experience not to be missed... and you will want to do it again and again.   Owner is Mark Button and their website is mobydicktours.com  They pick you up at the cruiseport in a van and after you can go back to town, or they'll drop  you at Seven Mile Beach.
